There is no doubt that the city of Lafayette is one of the most beautiful in the entire state of Indiana. The Wabash River runs right through the city, separating Lafayette from West Lafayette and offering two distinct places to live or to visit, both with Lafayette zip codes. Taking a trip here might not seem as exotic as committing to Puerto Vallarta condo rentals for a week or so, but we guarantee you will stay healthier and be comfortable in the surroundings. Here are a few ideas about things to do, and some travel advice for those coming to Lafayette.

One thing which has seen a rise in popularity over the last few years are tours of local wineries and breweries. Lafayette has one of each, where you can see how some of the most popular potables in the world are made. Tour the Wildcat Creek winery and get a view of the vineyards and barrelling rooms before these fine wines get sent to various areas, including businesses offering wedding catering in Burlington and various restaurants throughout the United States. Also, visit the famous Lafayette Brewing company for a look at and taste of their award winning ales.

When you wake up the next day, if you still feel like engaging in some cultural tourism, you can see what is on display at some of the museums and galleries around town. A couple very popular places to visit are the Tippecanoe Battlefield museum and Prophetstown. These are historic reminders of the city's colourful past. Here, you will find recreations of the battles between American troops, the Shawnee, and their allies. It is an incredible part of our history, the only time in which Indian tribes from all over the continent united in an effort to expel Europeans forever. You won't see anything like this if you stay in Haliburton cottages for a week!

When and if the cultural side of things gets too much for you, there are plenty of modern conveniences and experiences to be found here in Lafayette. You can spend the day out shopping at the strip malls, the outlet stores, or in the historic downtown area. There are storefronts here right out of the 1920s; it can be quite amazing to walk through the doors into a modern shopping space. Buy your aquarium fish foods or necessities for your trip right in town, getting a taste of the local flavour as you do so.

For some people, a New York spa package is all they need for a successful vacation. If you like to experience some real Americana, though, do not miss what the city of Lafayette in Indiana has to offer.
