When it comes to figuring out your post-high school life you need to have a pretty clear head on your shoulders. This is one major decision in your life that you can't screw around with. Of course, not everyone knows what they want to do after high school. Some high school graduates just want to travel the world and take a year off before joining the real world. Others know they don't want to go to college and will join the work force and take any old preform bands manufacturing job that will put a little spending cash in their pockets.

Most high school graduates, though, will go on to college or university and pursue their career dream aspirations of teaching at an English language school or becoming a doctor or lawyer. Careers like that require you to receive some sort of formal education. If you're a soon-to-be Lafayette high school graduate then you need to start preparing to apply for college or university as soon as possible. Don't just wait until the last moment to figure out what program you want to take and what colleges or universities you want to apply to.

Applying for college or university takes a great deal of thought, time and effort. You need to have a general idea of sorts of what career line you are interested in, be it working with x-ray protection equipment, helping people, or building machines, so that you can choose the appropriate program to apply to. Unless you don't know yet what it is you want to take but still want to go to college or university. In that case you can just take a general arts program until you declare for a major.

College or university isn't like high school. High school prepares you for the real world while giving you an education you can rely on to take you forth in life. College and university is there specifically to prepare you for the working world. You go to college or university so that you can learn everything it is you need to know about one day that will prepare you for having a career at a Canadian trademark firm, auto mechanic shop or sports organization. Whatever your career aspirations are college or university is there to help you achieve them.

That's why you need to be prepared when applying to college or university. Have a general idea of what you one day want to do for a living and then start tailoring your college or university applications to that field. Whatever it is you one day want to become there is a college or university program out there that you can apply to. Also, if you just want to get some work experience as a construction worker and work with tube cutters until you're ready for college or university then that's fine too.
